 📚️🏫 Toastmastering Together

Let’s get better by learning from each other and sharing resources - also on the footer of every newsletter from now on! If you want to add info or share a Public Speaking Tidbit, let us know!

Today we will highlight those related to onboarding.

Get straight to the point! The Wadsworth constant says that we can safely skip 30% of a Youtube video and not lose the essence of the content. We can do the same for our speeches and dive straight in with no unnecessary preamble!

- Scott, for our Public Speaking Tidbit of the Week

🤝 ♣️ July 10 Club Meeting Highlights

Our first time Toastmaster for the Evening Gene chose and demonstrated the theme of resilience. From managing to fill up all the roles before the meeting started, to running a smooth meeting despite logistics challenges. Not only that but many guests took to the stage for Table Topics on their first visit with the club - everyone did not show obstinance (word of the day!) in embracing the theme for the night!

Thank you to our 13 guests who spent their Wednesday evening with us! 🙏

Great job to our members who ran today’s meeting: Gene, Ping, Adam, Jack, Helen, Tavisan, Sheila, Monica, Scott and Alex

🙋‍♀️ Help run the July 17 meeting by signing up for roles! 🙋

This Wednesday, we:

  • 🪄 Heard Helen talk about this magical place called Camp Ronald McDonald for Good times!

  • 📚️ Learned from Alex W how to process self-help books so we become Highly Effective People.  (🏆 Best Prepared Speech 🏆)

  • 👶 Learned that Alex C and his partner’s decision could impact the future of the world’s population.

  • 🍑 Legitimized Muni booty-staring inspired by our Booty Buddha Lisa (🏆 Maverick Award 🏆).

  • 🥸 Learned what’s ahead to better Toastmaster together c/o Sheila

  • 😰 Heard about Ping’s comfort zone (not on a stage!) and Jack’s habit of getting out of his - for their shared (🏆 Best Table Topic 🏆).

    • Thanks to those who showed resilience by speaking tonight - Tavisan, First Ryan (guest), Jay, Olivia (guest), Second Ryan (guest), Lee(guest), Grace(guest), Maryam(guest) and Torran(guest). Thank you Monika for leading Table Topics!

  • 😁 Heard Ievgeniia’s (🏆 Best Evaluator 🏆) win highlighting Alex W’s use of humor and speech structure.

    • Thanks to all our evaluators Mark (evaluating Alex C), Helen (evaluating Lisa) and Adam (evaluating Sheila). Thanks Scott for leading this section as General Evaluator!
