🎡 GGTM Play Day on November 8 (Sat)

Let’s soak up the sun (fingers crossed for good weather!), enjoy a laid-back picnic, and dive into some enjoyable Improv games together!

Snacks and refreshments are on us - just bring your energy, your laughter, and your best on-the-spot acting skills. Come hang out and play with GGTM!

🎤 Toastmasters Leadership Institute on November 15 (Sat) at Redwood City Library

It’s Fall! Step into authentic leadership at the Toastmasters Leadership Insitute — grow your confidence, presence, and purpose through workshops and club officer training. Open to EVERYONE. More details and sign-up here.

📝 Rhino Business Toastmasters Storytelling Workshop on November 18 (Tue)

Our friends from Rhino Business Toastmasters are bringing in a speaking coach to host a Storytelling Workshop on Tuesday, November 18. More details and sign-up on this form. Cost is $20 and includes a light dinner!

Fever and Furlough meeting on November 19 (Wed)

Have any stories you want to share about the pandemic or work restructuring and layoffs? Whether it’s personal or about work, it was a crazy time. There are still a few open speech spots! This is a regular meeting with an isolating theme!

 🎆 Meeting Highlights

Nick, a long time member of GGTM, was our Toastmaster for the evening. Seasons was the theme - and everyone delivered!

We had a pretty packed house with around 30 attendees, 11 of which are guests.

Thank you to our members who signed-up for roles: Eugene, Kyle, Tanya, Omar, Adam and Sheila 

Speech Highlights:

• 🍺 Valeriy’s 2 minute special highlighted the correlation between our meetings and AA meetings.

• 💪 Blair spoke about his superpower, mental toughness, and his various methods of strengthening it (🏆Best speaker + Ice breaker🧊).

• 📖 Jack educates the audience a body language, and how you can be successful with your presence.

• 🔥Sheila shared about how her work family was affected by an org restructure and what she did to fight through it.

• 📝Ian wraps up our prepared speech section with a reminder that preparation kills the feeling of hesitation

The theme of seasons continued onto the table topics section of the meeting, led by our SAA Michelle.

Michelle helped us recollect forgotten holiday traditions and childhood memories, with a song to kick us off! Gautam shared a recently discovered New Year’s Eve activity at the spa (🏆Best table topic🏆).

This wouldn’t be a meeting without our evaluators, who evaluated an amazing array of speeches today! Nithila (evaluating Blair) and Adam (evaluating Sheila) highlighted their speaker’s strongpoints and areas for improvement in GGTM fashion (🏆Best evaluators🏆).

✏️ Evaluation Tidbits

• Have some backup content if you find yourself finishing your speech before the green light!

• Interacting with your audience is a great way to use body language.

• A gut-wrenching mid-speech twist is effective in changing your audiences’ expectation, leaving them on the edge of their seat.
