Journeys, Juggling and Glam

GGTM celebrated success in many shining moments this week!

Hey there Fellow Toastmaster!

Another evening of beautiful, powerful stories as we all navigate our way through life 💪

 🥳🥇 So. Many.Activities

Don’t be shy, share your life wins and let’s celebrate together!

  • Mike Z. let GGTM hang with the cool kids at the Chamber of Commerce Excellence in Business Awards (aka EBBIES) last October 22 at the Regency Ballroom! We got to dress up and celebrate San Francisco’s community builders over a nice spread and open bar! Thank you Mike!!

  • GGTM and other TM friends supported Scott as he ran a demo meeting to help find Rhino Toastmasters a new home in the ARUP office

  • Adam (ABC!) generously shared more of his grandmother’s remarkable stories during his speech. Hear more of them directly from her with this Oral history interview with Nellie Cesana

  • Sheila led her first webinar with over 100 attendees tempting the demo gods as she showcased a key product feature - live! The “panic training” from Table Topics helped her navigate a network mishap to smoothly pivot

 📣 📆 Coming Up

  • 🦋 October 29 (Tue) 7:30PM - The Moth

    • Join some of GGTM at The Moth Story Slam (Theme: Goosebumps!). We will grab dinner at Pink Onion before the show at 6PM. More details (and please RSVP!) on this Partiful event

🤝 ♣️ October 23 Meeting Highlights

Our club president Katka kicked us off with a quick quiz on fun facts about our members. Daniel aced and won the quiz, getting 7/12 answers right - impressive & congrats, Daniel!

Did you miss this week’s meeting and want to check it out? Or you wanna take it again & get the perfect score this time? The quiz is still available on the link below:

Juggler-extraordinaire Alexandra added another item to her long to-do list as she led our club meeting today as a first time Toastmaster for the Evening! For that fleeting (word of the day!) moment we shared for two hours, we heard stories of how we juggle (theme of the night) our way through life’s rollercoaster (or merry-go-round) of challenges, adventures, celebrations and everything in between.

We shared the Chamber of Commerce space with 32 members and guests tonight!

Thank you to the members who helped run today’s meeting: Natalie, Grace, Daniel, Katka, Sheila, and Warfa. Members, please sign-up so folks don’t have to do double-roles. Thank you! 🙏

🙋‍♀️ Be part of our Halloween Meeting by signing up for roles! 🙋

This Wednesday, we:

  • ⛰️ Were with Helen as she recounted her adventures summiting Mt. Whitney with a lot of miles covered, a considerable amount of patience, many tears shed and one WAG Bag to-go. (🏆 Best Speaker🏆)

  • 😨 Heard another nail-biting story from Adam sharing his grandmother Nelly’s survival stories and encouraged us to learn more about this difficult period of history

  • 🫡 Learned how Shubham strategically kept Aruba Toastmasters club afloat to make sure the club members continue to get the benefits of Toastmasters and reminded us to focus on the end outcome and get started!

Helen shared adventures of climbing…

.. and our TME Alexandra, of juggling!

Juan gets Best Evaluator #2! 🥳

Dena: NOOO to one more ball to juggle! 😤

  • 🤹‍♀️ Supported Dena as she said “No, thank you!” to the universe giving her another ball to juggle as she’s still catching up from when she had to do it in school (🏆 Best Table Topic🏆)

    • Thank you Warfa for leading Table Topics and for those who braved it and shared their adventures - Sebastian, Nik, Derick, Hanna, Jay, Joel, Albert and Kira.

  • ✌️Juan is on a roll and got another (🏆 Best Evaluator🏆) advising Adam to deliver the speech with more conviction to elevate an already powerful topic!

    • Thanks to all our evaluators Tavisan (evaluating Helen) and Gene (evaluating Shubham). Thank you Katka for being our General Evaluator reminding us to be aware of our time management ⌛️😶

Today, we get to know Nikilitha Mdluli who recently became part of GGTM family.

Welcome to GGTM, Nik!

I’m Nikilitha Mdluli! (You can Call me Nik). I'm 24, born in South Africa! I joined Toastmasters to strengthen my leadership and soft skills, particularly in public speaking and connecting with diverse audiences. My name means "Give Light" in Xhosa, I'd like to make that a reality. I’m driven by a passion for making things happen and enjoy staying busy with new and exciting projects.

Favorite Book: The Hero and the Outlaw by Margaret Mark, which explores personality archetypes and has deepened my understanding of human behavior.

Upcoming Speech Topic: "The Art of Making Big Decisions" (Still a work in progress so it may change)

I’m currently in San Francisco pursuing my master’s degree, and I'm excited to be part of this community and further develop my communication and leadership skills!
