 📚️🏫 Toastmastering Together

Let’s get better by learning from each other and sharing resources - also on the footer of every newsletter. If you want to add info or share something you discover or a Public Speaking Tidbit, let us know!

Did you know that there are A TON of resources in the Toastmasters International website in addition to our Pathways curriculum? We found this amazing blog post on Cultivating Authenticity as a Speaker giving tips in incorporating our true selves to our presentations. Check it out!

We all have at least one side of ourselves that we don't love to present to others. We hide it and like it to face the plate when we serve ourselves to others. But if we drench that side of ourselves with enough love and acceptance, we can find that it tastes pretty good!

🤝 ♣️ August 7 Club Meeting Highlights

Sheila chose the theme of “Who are you?” (based on a dinner conversation with Alex L.) inviting us to get to know each other better through stories about ourselves and things that matter to us. For the first time in a while, the verity (word of the day!) that all roles were filled and printed in the agenda before the meeting started was proof of how dynamic our club meetings have become. Thank you everyone for always showing up!

Thank you to our six guests and a lot of members who spent their Wednesday evening at the Chamber of Commerce! 🙏

Great job to our members who ran today’s meeting: Sheila, Alex W, JJ, Jehana, Sunita, Gene, Alex L. and Juan.

🙋‍♀️ Help run the Aug 14 meeting by signing up for roles! 🙋

This Wednesday, we:

  • 🌡️ Commiserated with Alex C. on America’s (and Liberia and Myanmar) complicated imperial system of measurement

  • 🤖 Learned from Prat about Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), Nanobots and Advanced 3D Printing revolutionizing the future

  • 🥞 Heard that adding butter and syrup (upon request!) makes Daniel’s darker side of the pancake still delicious (🏆 Best Prepared Speech 🏆) (🧊 Ice Breaker 🧊)

  • ⚡️ Were educated via Scott’s 20 minute pitch and Q&A session about the realities of PG&E handling of energy in California. Reach out to him to learn more!

  • 💼 Heard about Nick’s professional identity crossroads since joining his company seven years ago. (🏆 Best Table Topic 🏆).

    • Thanks to those who shared their stories of identity - Alex W., Harris, Jehana, Gene, Juan, Ru, Jack. Thank you Alex L. for leading the Table Topics inspiring the theme of the evening!

  • 😜 Heard Harris’ first ever evaluation role leading to (🏆 Best Evaluator 🏆) commending Daniel’s hilarious Ice Breaker and recommending pauses to give the audience time to laugh.

    • Thanks to all our evaluators Gene (evaluating Prat) and Jack (evaluating Scott). Thanks Juan for leading this section as General Evaluator!

Best Speaker Daniel sharing his Ice Breaker!

Nick shares his professional identity dilemma atm for Best Table Topic!
